Finished my first tree

After a 70-day streak, followed by a short break and a 7-day streak, I finally finished the Swedish tree. But I feel that I still need a lot of practice.

Jag ville förstå vad mina svenska vänner skriver på facebook, och jag kan säga att jag förstå inte allt än, men jag förstå mycket.

Can I suggest you to watch "Akta Manniskotr" ? It is an excellent swedish TV show, and I think it will improve your hearing, vocabulary and grammar skills.

Awesome! Great job, I don't think I've seen many people finish that tree. Are you going for another soon?

Yes, as soon as Norwegian is available, I'll start with that, and I also plan to do French later

Same. Once Norwegian is released I'll be all over that. But for the mean time I'm looking into Danish.

Congratulations, that's great! Do you have any tips on learning Swedish?

Not really. Just like any other language, you just have to keep going. It always helps me when I can make a connection between the language and my other interests. It kept me motivated when I saw that I understood the first facebook posts of Swedish friends without a translation service after the first few weeks. And then I continued with song lyrics and album reviews in Swedish. In a few days I'll start with reading an ebook I already know very well in German (my native language) and in English (original version of the book).

Ah that's awesome, I'm about half way through mine, do you have any resources outside of Duolingo that helped you?

Just the resources mentioned here by other users in various threads, e.g. klartext or läs en bok, and a website where I started years ago, but never got beyond the first or second lesson, because there weren't enough exercises. However, the explanations are worth looking at: http://www.onlineswedish.com/main.php
