Original post is deleted - Thanks for correcting me MultiLinguAlex!

The "Other" reporting option was useless, but was made useful a few weeks ago.

Hohenems, please delete this discussion or correct it appropriately. You were right until a few weeks ago. We now have a new feature that actually allows us to see what users write. It is called "freewrite reports" and you can see that in the following screen:

It would have been better to ask before you open such a new discussion.

I kindly ask you to still use this box! We were not able to read your "other reports" in the past, but we do have this possibility now by seeing it in "freewrite report". Thank you very much!

History was on my side that things didn't change. That's what I get for making an assumption. ;-)

So, you can see these reports now; it's just going to take a long time to read them all. No problem. I have other things to do instead of filling in the "other" box.

I like ferrets, but I'm still saving up to by my own island nation. When I get it, though, I'll set up the Hohenems Ferret Refuge in your honor.

Awww man, I always tic the "Other" box along with one of the pre-selected issues! I thought my detailed explanations of why something should be changed was the reason behind my changes getting accepted. Now I'm just frustrated to have put in so much effort for no good reason. :/

We didn't have the possibility of seeing your written words in the past, but we do have it right now. I know that this must be frustrating, but since we can see your words from now on, I kindly ask you to use this report box again and all your concerns will be read =)

Thanks for the quick response! I'm glad to hear that someone is receiving my messages now. It just seems to make more sense to me to put some detail into a report other than "My answer should be accepted." I mean, don't we all want our answer accepted? That's why we put it there in the first place! I'm feeling much happier now that you gave us the updated information.

Haha, I'm sure that you have to wade through quite a few of them! As long as my report helps someone in the future, I'm content with making those detailed reports. Although I have to admit, the time that I got a report accepted on the same day that I made it was spectacular!

To be honest, most of the reports are simply wrong, so that it is easy to get through them. We also benefit from being a very stable course that does not need to add a lot of different translations. Part of the reports have been neglected for a long time because of not being able to read "other reports" (which we are able to do now!), so that we can work on one skill at a time. Before that, we had to work through all reports, but leave the "other reports" because we had no clue what these were and in that matter, one simply loses the overview. It's much better now and personally, I don't know what to do with 4 or maybe 5 reports out of 1,000. Having this new tool allows a way more focused work and it helps tremendously.

@Soglio: When I left the Incubator, there were ~170k unaddressed reports. If it's down to 100k now, that's progress.

Well, I created an Excel table because I couldn't sleep. The current figures are: EN-DE 61,326 reports, DE-EN 244,878 reports, 306,204 reports in total. It took me approx. 5 hours to work on 2,500 reports, so that it will take a few months to work on them.

How about the audio reports? Is something done on them? There were a couple I have reported in the Spanish for English speakers course where the audio breaks up in the middle. Haven't heard back anything on them.

Good to know the course contributors are reading the comments in reports now! I assumed the comments went somewhere but wasn't 100% sure that they were being read, now we know why some errors have persisted for a long time.

Thanks. Like others who are responding, I almost always try to explain why I think the accepted answer is wrong, or why other translations should be accepted. It's a shame this information is not being used to help staff understand why users believe there is something to report. Why aren't these reports going to the course creators or to native speakers who can understand them, and decide whether to change the current exercise?
