I just finished my Spanish tree, and earned the Golden Owl..
Compared to the others here, this has taken me an excruciatingly long time to complete. I'm old. Family issues, many things. But! I kept at it, and finally finished. Feels great!
I could have done it much sooner, but did always try to keep the tree golden. I don't know if that is the best strategy or not. Maybe I should have gotten a tortuga de oro? :)
The main thing? Don't quit.
... Now, off to the reverse tree. :)
Congratulations! By the way, If any of you have any books, songs or movies that helped you in your language, please paste it here (https://www.duolingo.com/comment/8032670$comment_id=8032756)
Congrats "Tortuga de oro" jajaja, it's fantastic, however you want to learn Spanish and I want to learn english, ... really I'm learning English and you Spanish. why do you want to learn Spanish?, for example I'm Native Spanish speaker and the English gives me more opportunities (you know) and by the other hand it's awesome. Actually I'm studying chemical engineering and too many books (for not say all) are written in english, and if I want to be a ph.D so I have to be a English speaker.
OMG that sounds awesome! I would love for someday for me to do the same thing. What's the,"The Golden Owl + Reverse Tree."? :P
Not 100% on what the golden owl is since I haven't finished my tree, but if I had to guess, you get it when you finish your tree and it's totally gold?
The reverse tree I know for sure. It's when you "learn" your native language from your target language. OP just did spanish from english, so now they are going to do english from spanish.
Way to go! Yes, have some lingots! I just redicated my efforts to keep duolingo consistent and NOT QUIT, so you are inspiring me to go on...
I am new here, I started learning Spanish this week and I love this site, it's attractive and seems easy. Someone here was asking why? Because it's a beautiful language, very spoken around the world and I love foreign languages, love traveling, so on. I am also kind of old, actually how old is old?! :) And I am doing it because it's pleasant to spend the time like this instead of just surfing the net or on facebook... I don't know what you guys are speaking about like all these rules, tortugas, trees, I hope the site stay free and doesn't finish too soon. So hello new colleagues and congrats kiryah! By the way, now that you finished, what are you doing next?
I'm learning english and I'd like to improve my skills so if you want we could help each other, I help you with spanish and you with my english in skype.
Congrats! I just started and hope to finish Spanish and move on to German.....hope that wish will come true....!!
how long did it take. Its taking me for ever to get to a new lesson. I firstly do revision every time on some of the pervious lessons and I don't move on until I know my current lesson really well.
About a year and a half. I have found that I remember better when I do a new lesson before bed, then repeat it in the morning. Weird, huh?
