when i was searching through my English to Spanish dictionary i came across the word "ello" which means "it".My question is when do i use this word?

'Ello' is rarely used. We use 'Eso' instead. Or you can omit it.

Example:

It does not reach the roof.

Eso no alcanza al techo.

o

No alcanza el techo.

Example 2.

I like it.

Me gusta eso.

o

Me gusta.

I have heard 'ello' being used by some native Spanish speakers in some podcasts I listen. I think it is more often used in Spain.
