Yes, and with good reason. The Danes/vikings invaded England and left some of their language behind. See David Crystal's book "The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the English Language". I am Danish and in David's book there was one example of an old English text and I was shocked to realise that I could read most of it because it sounded so Danish when I read it aloud.
