"Noi siamo uomini?"

The voice doesn't use a voice intonation that denotes a question.

I agree...I didn't notice the punctuation and just translated the way I heard it.

if "noi" is "we" how does it switch around to become a question?

January 6, 2013

it doesn't switch. you know there is a question only by the intonation (if you are listening) and the punctuation (if reading).. in sentences the order usually is Subject - Verb both in affirmative and interrogative.. "noi siamo uomini." ="we are men." and "noi siamo uomini?"="are we men?"

yes it doesn't sound like question but the TTs needs some improvements, and we learnt here that the same order can be question in Italian

Isn't intonation important for a question -- to distinguish it from a statement, since the word order is the same? The reading does not sound like a question. Also, did anyone mistake 'siamo' for 'chiamo' according to the normal (fast) speech?
