Fourth Lesson : Afrikaans Conjunctions.

(1). For/Because = Omdat/Want

(a). Example : Hulle slaap omdat hulle moeg is.

Translation : They sleep because they are tired.

(b). Example : Hulle slaap want hulle is moeg.

Translation : They sleep because they are tired.

Pronunciation : Like the German "Wand", Also make use of Google Translate.

(2). And = En

<pre> Example : Die man en die vrou. </pre>

Translation : The man and the woman.

Pronunciation : Like the English Word "End", But without the D sound.

(3). Or = Of

<pre> Example : Is daai 'n man of 'n vrou? </pre>

Translation : Is that a man or a woman?

Pronunciation : Use Google Translate.

(4). So = So

<pre> Example : Dit was snaaks, So hy het gelag. Translation : It was funny, so he laughed. </pre>

Pronunciation : Use Google Translate.

(5). But = Maar

<pre> Example : Die dag was verby/oor, Maar dit was lank. Translation : The day was over, But it was long. </pre>

Pronunciation : Like the English word " Bar ", But with an " m ".
