The verb destacar
While in Immersion, I have run into uses of this verb, especially destacó, which means "highlighted, stresses, emphasizes. Sometimes I figure out how to make those definitions work in the sentence. But recently it was used and another member translated it as "sent" which fit the translated sentence just fine, but I'm left wondering what it really meant. If the author meant sent why not use enviado? Part of the sentence I'm referencing is "la maritime britanico destacó la Flota de la Oeste Occidentales". I'm sure to have butchered the Spanish by working from memory. Please share your knowledge.
The word can be used in way similar to the way we use "detach' in English, in a military context. "Churchill detached a squadron of Spitfires to Dover."
