How would I say "I am after the other hundred people"?
I think it would be "Táim tar éis an céad duine eile"--? -- céad = 100, and chéad = first. Literally, "An chéad duine eile" breaks down to "the first other person," i.e. the next person. (Somebody, let me know if I'm wrong!)
Where's "next" in this sentence?
An chéad X eile means “the next X”.
I first translated this as "I am after the other hundred people". The correct translation strikes me as very funny. Almost like a sarcastically gross overstatement.
does she palatise the 'r' in 'tar éis'? I hear an aspiration there...
