One year streak coming up in 3 hours!
I'm just a grandmother who learned some German in high school. My son told me about Duolingo, and I was excited to get started. I love the flexibility, as some days I only have time to do one lesson. I'm not in a rush to finish my tree. My goal is to learn it solidly, so I review and repeat lessons. I'm better than half way, though! I buy streak insurance, but only needed it a few times. My granddaughter has learned a few French words with me. She's 7!
Thanks to everyone for this great program! After reading other comments, I decided to take the Deutsche Welle placement test. It suggested I start at A2! I wouldn't have taken it if not for the discussion board. I'm amazed, and proud of myself. (blushes)
Well done! I am also an old lady trying to ward off brain deterioration and they do say that learning a new language is one of the best things to do to keep the mind 'aktiv'! I have a ways to go to match your streak but I can proudly say that I have yet to use a streak freeze. One thing I am REALLY jealous of though, is that you are a grandmother. I keep telling my children that the only reason we have children is so that we can get grandchildren...but you know kids. They never listen! Seriously, though, you have a lot to be proud of!
Foodoo, those little one are amazing! She's also doing some Chinese with her uncle. They are such little knowledge sponges! I like cryptograms, too, for keeping the cobwebs down. Streak freeze saved my buns when I was sick. That's great that you haven't had to use it yet.
Wow! You have a lot of languages. If I may ask, what is your native language ?
Hi, that's a fantastic progress and 365 consecutive days are not easy to accomplish. Way to go and onwards to the next 365 days ;-)
You've set a great example! You seem to be doing very well indeed. Looks like a bit over 200 more days for me to catch up with your streak. :D
awesome!! my 1st year is coming up in 15 days, & I plan on continuing for as long as possible - I love this site and app! :D
Congratulations! This story is amazing. I wish you more funny years in life with family and Duolingo friends. :)
That's really cool especially that you granddaughter learned french that's impressive.
