Why is "He did not seem real" wrong? like, you could be talking about someone who wasn't moving so you thought he was a statue.

My guess is "seem" includes the possibility of all the senses(sight, sound, taste, touch, smell or just a mental feeling), but "look" may give the impression of just "sight" The person would have likely used a different word if they wanted to communicate just "look"
