It's or is
Hello! I have a new quastion, maybe it's very simple but I'm confused, look in this case,
"I think is the number two" or "I think It's the number two"
What's the correct IS or IT'S ? and why?
You should use it's. This is because in English sentences there needs to be a subject; it acts as the subject.
It's "I think it's the number two"
To understand better, you can restructure the sentence as "I think that it is the number two". In Spanish, it's "Yo pienso que es el numero dos".
"it's" is a contraction of "it is". In Spanish, it's possible to remove the subject when in can inferred, whereas in English, you're not allowed to remove the subject, hence "it" is needed.
In English, the conjunction that, que in Spanish, can be remove if the sentence will still make sense, unlike in Spanish where you're not allowed to do so.
Hope this helps.
Nice link on when "that" is optional
