A Few Suggestions
(Note: Please don't get mad at me, and I hope I don't get down-voted)
A bigger, better lingot store! I'm sitting here with 983 lingots, and no matter what I do I can't lower the number down. Add some more stuff to the lingot store, or just make the costs for the items in the store more expensive!
A stay signed in check box. I don't like to sign in over and over again when I am the only person using Duolingo on my lap-top.
That skills will weaken a little slower. Last month I got sick of strengthening my skills every single day when I knew them perfectly fine.
The pictures in lessons better and more understandable. I often choose the wrongs ones and:
That there will be a notification when someone gives you lingots. I often get confused what where how did I get these lingots?!
Oh, and by the way, I am having problems with my notifications. The maximum number I see is 5 when I open it. But when I check my e-mail I see stuff that were not in the notification box (and yes, I have all the check boxes checked in my settings on the "notify me when..." thing).
This is totally up to you, Duolingo! If you don't add these suggestions, you are still awesome, the most popular language learning site, and I still love you!
That's weird that you cannot stay logged in. I am using Chrome, and for the past 192 days, I have not had to login once since the first time.
Hmm...I'm not sure about that. I automatically log out when I close all my tabs.
For me, I stay logged in all of the time, even after closing tabs or shutting off my computer. Make sure you have cookies enabled, and that you aren't using private mode or incognito.
I use Duolingo at work and home, I don't remember the last time I logged in before my current streak.
This may not be something you're into, but I just don't close my tabs...
I use Firefox and I am always logged into Duo. I think your settings must be different?
I totally agree about the skills, the "see if you can figure out this word from three obscure pictures," and I'm also having issues with notifications but it's different. What happens is, the bell shows me a number, so I try to click on it to read the notifications, and sometimes it won't open. So I go and fiddle around in the discussions, it still shows me the number, I try to click on it again, and--poof!--it works that time. ?!
More things to do with lingots is obviously needed, the hard part is what. Either they are useless (color scheme), or they are a lot of work to implement. Everyone wants more skills, but that is a month of effort for each one. Someone would have to do the work
I totally agree on the lingot store. I really wish Duo would let us see each other's trees like we used to. I understand so people can and some can't because of beta testing, but I miss being able to both see and show off tree progress. If the admins think tree progress should be private at least let the users choose if they want to share with friends or not.
Another thing I would like (though I bet it would be insanely difficult to implement) is for Duo to fix the inconsistencies between interfaces and have one single level/metric for a single language. For example, on the English Duo, my Spanish level is 14, but on French Duo it's 6. Shouldn't all the 'Spanish' points I earn go to the same metric? And the badges I have on my profile change depending which interface I'm in. With all these languages and all theses interfaces, we should really have one universal way of handling them.
I leave it logged in and close all my tabs. Next time I still have to log in.
If you are not clearing cache and cookies, it should stay logged in. Try the suggestions provided in the below link.
Those are great ideas! Just a couple things: I use either Chrome of Safari, and I just clicked remember password at the beginning, and I've never had a problem! Also, go to settings and you can turn on the thing that makes you get a notification whenever you get lingots from immersion :D P.S. I LOVE the brown haired Rapunzel!
Oh, yes! I didn't click remember password, so I guess that's why I don't stay logged in!
Those not being able to see for what comment you've been given lingots and not seeing all the notifications is indeed a bit of an issue.
I've got my OS on "save password in encrypted keyring" mode, so that'll do the trick for me, in terms of logging in.
Google Chrome asks me if I want to save my password, and I click save. Why do you use Firefox? It is super slow. Google Chrome is faster and it is always up to date. Internet Explorer and Firefox aren't always up to date.
