Cesto or cesta?

What is the difference between "el cesto" and "la cesta"? I have seen "cesta" for "basket" and I know that "cesto" is different.

Cesto could be a bigger basket, more tall as compared to its width.

Right. E.g: a laundry basket is a cesto, but the basket of Little Red Riding Hood is a cesta.

There's no difference. That word can be either masculine or feminine. The meaning for both is "basket". Althogh "cesta" is usually carried with the hands, and "cesto" is usually placed in a spot (like a paper basket)
