Number of spanish words
I'm finished recently my spanish tree, and I have the xp bar extension installed. I notice that I have 1573 words, and that seems less than some other languages (I've seen in the incubator some languages aiming for more than 2000 words). Is that because a word and its plural count for 1 on this count, whereas are treated differently when creating the course?
Is there any plan to increase the size of the courses? I guess we reach here a B2/B1 level, any chance it would take us to C2?
No one is going to get to C2 using an app or website, in my opinion. You will not get to B2 here unless you use additional resources. Most people seem to think Duo will get you to B1 in reading, A2 in conversation.
Thanks for the precision. I used to be almost fluent but I've lost a lot not practicing, and I find it easier and more efficient to use duolingo than to add an advanced vocabulary deck to anki. Obviously real conversations are needed to become able to speak properly.
Most people I have met in real life who have used this site are about A2 to B2 at max. Unless they somehow have been practicing speaking with natives, and really trying, then I notice them acheiving a B2 to a B1. A C2 is pretty fluent (Most translators in the world have to test at that level or higher), and it would require years and years of practice.
Oh my... C2 is nearly native speaker level. To achieve that, it takes many years, and without spending at least some time in the country where the language is spoken, it's virtually impossible to get there. I've been living in Spain for three and a half years, and despite being fluent and able to read novels etc without too much difficulty, I would probably not pass the C2. The C1, yes.
That is the eternal conundrum... most people would not pass a C1 exam in their own language without preparation.
My mistake, I inverted B2 B1 and C2 C1, I thought C2 being easier than C1.
