Why can't I buy bonus skills for other languages?

I purchased two bonus skills for french with my lingots. I now have extra lingots and would like to buy bonus skills for Spanish or German but there are no bonus skills available to me even though I know Spanish offers bonus skills. I know other people who have bought bonus skills in Spanish. Can someone please let me know how to fix this? Can you only buy bonus skills in one language ever??

You don't get the option to buy bonus skills until you are around 6-7 units through a tree.

I had the same problem. What I found was that I had to take a lesson in that language and then I could buy the bonus skills for the language.
