Here's my thanks to the best teacher on this earth: DUO!
He's/She's always been there for me, and helped make my language goals so possible. Thank you so much!
I want to thank all of you at Duolingo for providing this amazing site for all of us, for free.
ግን የአማርኛ ቋንቋ በዚህ ገጽ ላይ ቢሆን፣ ከዚህ ይልቅ ጥሩ ይሆን ነበር... :)
Not from the US... But I am thankful for all those teachers that accompanied and supported me even though me being a bit difficult sometimes. I am thankful to those who accepted that "right" and "wrong" are too narrow labels for some things and granted me the freedom to do things different once in a while. The ones who would explain, discuss and understand instead of insisting on "their solution" even when mine was just as correct. The ones who valued critical thinking instead of regarding it as disobedience or an attack. The ones who saw beyond the surface and recognized that you can respect everyone while also acknowledging that they are different. The ones who made me the person I am today.
My German and English teachers during the last few years of school were like that. Accepting, open-minded and willing to join a discussion. They made school a lot more enjoyable! I Just today, I met another teacher online. I had bought his self-study Japanese textbook and wrote a detailed review online... He approached me to thank me for the feedback and explained his reasoning behind some of the things that I criticized while also promising that he'd improve some of the points in the next edition. I was positively speechless when I saw this message and his willingness to consider my criticism... even when I'm just a stranger using his book to study a foreign language =)
Duolingo has helped me go really far: If it wasn't for Duolingo, I wouldn't be able to talk to many of my relatives. Thanks Duo!
