My French has improved! Thank you Duolingo!
Thank you Dr. von Ahn, Severin Hacker, and the wonderful minds that developed Duolingo to make learning fun. Thank you Sitesurf for your helpful and often witty assistance, and to those who take the time to ask questions and to those who take the time to explain. Your enthusiasm and knowledge make Duolingo such an exciting and confidence-boosting learning experience. I just finished my French tree, and while I know I need to keep repeating it (uh...yes, there are some parts I barely got through....past conditional and subjunctive…ugh!...which I have not quite learned…) I am so delighted! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Congratulations with finishing your tree (and more importantly, learning some French! :D) Good luck with the rest of your studies :)
Congratulations! I suggest practicing French in real life, somehow. (Immersion, chatting with French friends) Duolingo is kind of limited to listening to a robot.
Thank you! Yes, I had lived in France as a child and Duolingo gave me back what I had lost over the years and more. (My grammar has always been "épouvantable". I feel I have a base now from which to build). You are absolutely right, to progress, it's got to be used. May be time to take an Alliance Française conversation class and meet more French people through their activities.
New word épouvantable - horrendous. They didn't teach me that one here. Thanks!
That's one I heard unfortunately too much in class when it came to verb conjugation! ;-0
Try HelloTalk or something siimilar. Lots of French people happy to chat with you on the internet.
There is a lot of love flowing for Duolingo, and I'm one of them. Great job finishing the tree, you are a motivation for myself and others!
You absolutely can do it. I started with the idea that, OK, maybe I'll just explore this a little while for fun ...no pressure... I don't have to complete it." but then....the more I learned, the more excited I got and the more addicted I got... it dawned on me...maybe...maybe I would finish it...just because it's fun.
French is so addicting! When someone asks me a question, I often reply in French and they have no idea what im saying!
