This may have been covered in an earlier question, but I'm a bit confused what the difference between open and opent is. I know that "jij open de boeken" is a very general statement saying "you open the books" so I'm not sure what the difference with opent would be

"Jij open de boeken." is not a valid Dutch sentence.
It is either "Jij opent de boeken." or "Open jij de boeken?".
