bug concerning lingots awarded for streaks divisible by 10
I've noticed that a few weeks ago I stopped getting the lingots awarded for streaks every 10 days. Everything worked fine up until the day I reached a streak of 420, but since then, the feature seems to have been broken: I don't even receive the message saying "you earned x lingots". Is this a known bug (and if so, are there any plans to fix it)?
There's an ongoing test as part of which the streak award has been removed for a percent of users. The idea is to eventually do away with this means of earning lingots if there is no significant impact on the language learning process for users (and probably user retention to some extent).
You can check the lingot store page. If you're part of the test, you will find the option of earning lingots by streak would have been removed from the list of all possible ways.
Yes, that seems to be the explanation - thanks! I don't really follow the discussion forums that closely, so I must have missed this. Regarding user retention, I think it probably does have some impact in the early stages, when it's still relatively hard to scrape together the lingots you need for the few useful upgrades there are, like timed practice and idioms. But since there's nothing to spend your lingots on after that point, they become useless as an incentive to extending your streak. Most likely that's just part of the general problem of a (relative) lack of upgrades available in the lingot store, though, rather than something to do with the 10-day streaks in particular. I wonder if that's being looked into as well...
