Help with advanced masculine/feminine issue
"el arca de noe estaba bien construida. por dentro estaba seca y abrigaba."
now if "el arca" is now masculine because of the el annotation, would the above sentence need to be corrected into, construido, seco y abrigaba?
also this one really gets me. oye.
"noe construyo el arca de madera. la hizo lo suficientemente grande para que cupieran todos los animals y toda clase de alimentos."
?la hizo lo?
I think my scolastic childrens bible has some mistakes!
Arca remains fem even though it is preceded by a masculine article. The change is only for purposes of pronunciation and does not change the grammar.
The same thing happens with agua. "el agua"
Spanish speakers apparently don't like the doubled up "a's" that would happen if they said "la agua". This is similar to what happens in English when we switch out "a" for "an" when the following word begins with a vowel. i.e. "an apple"
