Apparently 'forlorn' in English comes from the Old English 'forlesen' (lose) and 'forloren' (depraved, morally abandoned) with some Dutch, German and Gothic cognates. Just kinda neat that Swedish employs this word that's otherwise pretty rare in everyday English.
