How to use a new feature

When a box appears at the end of completing a lesson suggesting I use my new words and post them, what is this for? Are we encouraged to use the new words in a sentence. There is also a place to translate to English. I have no idea the purpose of this new feature.

I think it is to encourage you to post on your stream for your followers (and those who visit your page) to see.

Yes, I think they want you to use your new words in a relevant way. I've found the translate helpful when I want to use a word I haven't learned yet. (ie. I ate chicken and rice for dinner with my friend. We had cake and cookies for dessert.)

It is to encourage using the words in sentences for communication practice. If you type a word in the box, it will translate it to the language you are learning.

Thank you for your response to my question. I'm still not very clear. Are we being encouraged to post something using the new Spanish words and if so, why is there a box for the English translation? Perhaps I will ask this question through the Feedback link. I just thought someone might have used it and could provide more clarity.

It's just like posting something on your feed. And also like translating sentences. If you go to translate sentences, you can hover over the word to get the translation. Even though you are given the literal translation, you still have to make it make sense in the real world, as the real world does not speak 'literally". The idea is to practice, use repetition, and feedback from other users. The more interaction and communication, the more fluent and easy to use the language. That's all. There are no points accrued or anything like that. It is just using the language and getting used to it. If a person has difficulty, then they can use the translater. BUT, you cannot communicate in any other language than the one that you are learning. I tried posting in English and it won't let me :)
