European Portuguese

Hey y'all I apologize if this has been asked before but did not find a post. Are there any good free resources online to learn or study European Portuguese? It's very interesting to see how different both dialects of Portuguese are. Another question for anyone who has studied the historical linguistic aspect of Portuguese. How did the Brazilian dialect come up with sounds that aren't really heard in the European dialect? For example the the "ch" sound in words with -ti- or ending in -te as well as teh "j" sound in in words with -di- or ending in -de. Does it have to do with any of the native languages or African languages that were brought into the Brazilian language in Latin America?

For some free resources see here: (I haven't checked the links, so apologies if any are dead now).

This old thread received an interesting update today (see the comment by TiagoMoita_PT):

About the sounds of Portuguese, you could start here: and follow some of the links provided there.

This isn't really a resource I guess, but it's cool to watch. It's an interview with Christiano Ronaldo:
