Bugs and other reposts
I'd like to draw your attention to at least 25 posts on the glitch Duolingo experienced. Please look around before making a new post and join a pre-existing discussion instead.
As for the current set of glitches, staff is aware and working to diagnose and fix what's happening.
Many thanks! ^_^
PS Bunny dubs today Glitchpocalypse O.O For those of you who missed it, you'll find video footage of one of the effects Here
I may be mistaken, but I believe a bug is an actual flaw in the code, while a glitch is a flaw that manages to manifest itself in spite of the code being fine (e.g. your computer overheating and causing a game to crash). Bugs will happen consistently until the flaw is fixed, while glitches happen intermittently and are not always reproducible.
"-ghazi" calls back to the 2012 Benghazi attack and the following attempts by US politicians and pundits to attack and discredit their opponents in the popular media on the basis of their actions or inactions, real and imagined, that caused or allowed the attack to happen. Since then, "-ghazi" has become a go-to naming convention for scandals across the whole spectrum of importance, much as "-gate" has been used since the Watergate scandal.
EDIT: For example, Deflategate or Ballghazi
It's really good of you to post this message and I agree multiple threads don't help at all but forgive me for asking, shouldn't someone from Duo issue a message saying what bugs/viruses/glitches (sorry HappyEvilSlosh) they are aware of and working to fix? That would probably reduce the queries by a huge amount.
I understand what you mean, but truth be told, I don't think it would reduce queries all that much. Duo occasionally makes official announcements about A/B tests coming up, and that doesn't stop the flood of people posting about whatever the A/B test is testing - e.g. "I didn't get my lingots for a ten-day streak, is this a glitch?"
