How do I set the clock and calendar?

Would someone please describe how I can set the clock and calendar? They are both inaccurate and it is really frustrating as I can't seem to fulfill my daily learning quota. Thanks!

The "day" rolls over at midnight in the time zone in which you created your account. That is, if you created your account in New York City, your account is forever linked to Eastern time. If you then travel to Los Angeles, your day still rolls over at midnight in NYC, or 9 pm in LA time. (I don't recall what happens at daylight savings/spending.) I've heard of situations where the "day" actually resets itself to match your current time zone, but I'm not sure of the particulars there.

The "week" supposedly rolls over Sunday night, 0 Greenwich Mean Time, or UST, I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can speak more to that.

Does that help?

I'm not sure this is correct. My "day" seems to start at midnight in New York even though I am in Ireland, and set up my account here.

Odd. That is certainly not the expected or documented behavior. (Sorry for the lmgtfy link on the second one; I wanted to just point to the google results.) As the forum posts in the google results show, there are definitely odd behaviors and aberrations, sometimes linked to travel or time zone setups. But the expected behavior (as the first link, a comment from a Duo staffer, shows) is midnight on your original time zone.

Well, I set up my account in California, so I don't know what the deal is. I did travel down to Mexico with my iPad and downloaded some lessons on the way, but there was only a one hour time difference max at any point. And theoretically it shouldn't matter as I set up my account in Cali.

If you go to www.duolingo.com/users/(put your username here) you will see a lot of code which looks like raw HTML. If you search for timezone on that page you will see where Duolingo thinks you are.

I do not know the technicalities of how Duo works out your location but I think it is possible that this could be caused by having your computer incorrectly set up for your location (it may have been like this from new).

It shows "New York" for me. This is a laptop purchased in Ireland, set to Irish time, and I registered on duo from an Irish IP address. How duo interprets all that as meaning that I live in New York is something of a mystery to me.

Thanks! I see it is set to New York time. But I checked my computer clock and it is set to Pacific time. I do have New York set as an additional clock, but not as my main. So not sure whats going on. I sure wish I could change it... Thought I guess I just make 9pm my deadline for the day and be done with it.

Weird! What time does it seem to be rolling over?

I haven't quite pinpointed it, but I surmise it must be a time zone thing and seems close to 9pm.

It is set for New York time. So 9pm.. being that I'm a US west coaster.
