Remind me, what's the difference between -u and -us in a verb?

-u is imperative and -us is for conditional

Vere!

Amuzing: One great-grandmother - mother of all four grandparents.

Sure if we are cousins each the child of one of the grandparents who are siblings and children of the great grandmother. Your idea is amusing, but it is based on the wrong group of us. No one said that we are siblings.

The situation you described is just not very common. Person A has a grandmother GM, person B has a grandfather GF. GM and GF are siblings, their mother is the great-grandmother GGM of A and B (who are speaking).

Yes, grammatically it is alright to name GM and GF "geavoj", but everyone hearing "geavoj" thinks of a couple...

Having Swedish as my native language, I'm actually a bit sad that Esperanto uses the bunch-them-together approach (similar as in English).

Swedish [explanation] - Esperanto - English

mor - patrino - mother
far - patro - father

moster [mors syster] - onklino / patrina onklino [fratino de patrino] - aunt /maternal aunt [mother's sister]
morbror [mors bror] - onklo / patrina onklo [frato de patrino] - aunt [mother's brother]

faster [fars syster] - onklino [fratino de patro] - (paternal) aunt [father's sister]
farbror [fars bror] - onklo [frato de patro] - (paternal) uncle [father's brother]

mormor - avino / patrina avino - grandmother / maternal grandmother
morfar - avo / patrina avo - grandfather / maternal grandfather

farmor - avino - (paternal) grandmother
farfar - avo - (paternal) grandfather

mormorsmor - praavino (patrino de patrina avino) - great-grandmother (mother of the maternal grandmother)

o.s.v. (och så vidare) - k.t.p. (kaj tiel plu) - and so on

... then again, there are languages that go the Swedish way, but two extra miles (e.g. Chinese), with specific terms for maternal and paternal relatives - with different words for younger/older within most of these ...
