Birgitte Hjort Sørensen: Why I am learning Danish :)

[deactivated user]

I never considered to learn Danish until I looked up information about Pitch Perfect 2...and I may get haters for this, but I was disappointed with the sequel though I had loved the first one..., and found out that the German a cappella leader "Kommissar" from DSM is actually Danish.

Birgitte played a great villain, and that's why I became curious of this actress. Looking up her past work experience, she is one talented woman! From viewing and reading interviews about her, I also noted, appreciated and admired Birgitte's professionalism, elegance and class.

Upon such reasons, therefore, I decided to learn Danish as I wish to see her other works such as Borgen and Marie Krøyer, and plays. And also - I know this is silly, but truthfully - perhaps one day, if I ever get to meet her, I can introduce myself in the language of her heart - Danish. :)

PS: Danish is really challenging for me, lol. My throat is not used to this kind of language.

I think it's great that you are learning Danish! It doesn't matter why you do it as long as you enjoy it. There aren't that many people who bother with it because most Danes speak English very well, so I always get really happy when someone tries to learn it.

    Good luck! :)

Thank you so much for the encouragement! I appreciate it :) Yes, I was quite impressed with how well Birgitte spoke English; I couldn't figure out what her slight accent sounded like. I knew for sure she was European just by her conduct and her speech, but didn't know her origin. As for learning, I am struggling, haha. Surely it will take me an extended time to get into the habit of a different way of utilizing my throat. I'm just dabbling for now, but it's nice :)

Yes, she's amazing in Borgen! It's a really great series, and as you probably know, watching something foreign in its original language and being able to understand it is a fantastic feeling. I'm glad you're learning Danish, good luck! Held og lykke! :)

Yes, for sure - I agree with you! Danish is is definitely a language I had not considered to view for my choice of entertainment. But if a person admires someone in the industry, such as how I admire Birgitte, anyone would probably go out of their way :)

yay someone else learning for the arts! I started learning danish because I watch so many danish tv shows and wanted to understand what they didnt put in the subtitles. Borgen is one of the best, definitely watch it!

Danish is a great language to learn! The program here is amazing, and it's a lot of fun. I started it a few weeks ago and am now level seven, and I am able to speak some basic Danish already. I wasn't planning on learning it originally, but now that I've begun, I love it. Give it a shot! : )

Wow, good for you! I am struggling just to do the basics as I have done the first lessons multiple times, haha. Danish is definitely out of my league! But with any language - love, and practice and repetition is all it takes to improve fluency.
