Well, it seems like it took forever but I've finally conquered the Swedish tree. Next, I wish the Swedish team would add immersion so that we could try a different way of learning. Vote this up if you agree! :)

Try reading the news in Swedish! It might sound intimidating, but it is fairly easy if you have finished the tree.

I would want to add to this that listening to podcasts is a great way to improve listening skills. I do this with all the languages that I am studying. Nowadays, I even understand a lot of Norwegian podcasts, because of my Swedish skills and Duolingo Norwegian course. Danish not so much, but still it is nice to realize that I actually catch a word or two amidst the chatter!

Wow thanks! I think your list is appreciated by many. But my skills are so limited... I really need something easy at this point, such as VOA (Voice of America) Learning English news podcasts. They simplify vocabulary and speak slower than most people would. I haven't tried all of your suggestions yet though.

There are plans for it in the future, but there are still technical difficulties that they need to work out with it. The reverse course is also still in beta.

Given that Japanese is such a highly requested language I think they will find a way to do a Japanese course on DL.

The most difficult problem with Japanese for DL to solve is how they should teach "kanji" (the Chinese characters used in written Japanese).

The biggest problem they face is actually that every sentence has so many different translations. They are having trouble with the Incubator accepting at most 3000 translations per sentence.

yep, this is very tricky) And I am curious how DL is going to solve the problem with kanji in Japanese and Chinese hanzi ))) As with hiragana and katakana the problem is easily solved, but the kanji make lots of problem.. but maybe they can make something close to google translate? you can draw a kanji there by your mouse and the machine shows you kanji that are close to your drawing..

I bought light read books in Sweden. Very light and some wellknown titles like Pippi. I hoped to talk Swedish too, but as soon as I opened my mouth - and they heard my obvious accent - every immediately switched to eneglish. Jag vill tala svenska!
