I noticed there is already an iPhone phone application for this website, but will there be an Android application soon, it's good to learn on your free time like on the bus or the train.
I'm a Senior at Computer Science, Android app development doesn't take that long to do as long as you have the design (which i'm thinking they already do cause it's the same as iPhone's app) and also iOS development and Android development are pretty pretty much similar, they just need to take the decision, I would do it for them if I didn't have final exams theses days and also i'm busy learning German :P
I disagree. And I think trying to mimic iOS on android is the wrong approach, it would be like writing an application for OSX and jumping through all kinds of unnecessary hoops to make it look exactly like the windows app. If Android users wanted an iOS app, they wouldn't be Android users ;) You want to write the application native to the platform for the best results and usability.
This isn't the first thread asking for this but since it has been brought up again, I too would love this feature. I can use Chrome browser on a Nexus 7 tablet but need to pinch to zoom in/out constantly to get the text, buttons in correct or useable location. A dedicated app would be so much better. If only I'd taken Computer Science 101 back in the day, I'd gladly help out in development!
I think it would be wonderful. I'm learning German on my iPod, and my father saw. I knew how he had been struggly with wanting to learn Spanish (being able to find no fun way to learn, he gave up.) I decided I would get Duolingo on his Android and show him--only to be dissapointed that there was no app. Patiently waiting for one, Mels
(Within a year after launching its Android app, nearly half of all Instagram's user base comes from the Google-powered operating system.) = over 100 MILLION users
Duolingo are you getting the picture? You have been delaying for over 3 years. Without Android where is your growth going to come from? Knock Knock... are you listening yet?
An android app would be nice. It's annoying that android's version of flash doesn't implement the microphone class. Whenever I try to record something, duolingo says it can't hear me or can't understand me. The site works great otherwise; I just did a lesson during a quiet moment at work.
