is Esperanto a cross between Russian and Italian or something? that's what it sounds like to me
It is a cross between a whole bunch of languages. Two that I noteced in it is french and spanish. (It was meant to be a univercal language)
As a Portuguese speaker, this is easier than I expected. Some words just are the same. Kanta = cantar.
It's actually based on Romance and Slavic languages. Yet it has a Germanic grammar table. That's why it has soo many weird sounds, most are Spanish, French, Polish, or even German. Yet most words are very much Spanish in origin.
