How can I access lesson two?

In Basics One, I have completed Lesson one, and passed that "quiz", but I still cannot access Lesson Two. Thank you.

So within Basics One, you see a few squares that are labeled "lessons". And Lesson 1 now says "practice" and Lesson 2 says "locked"?

How do you access the quiz? (There are many things on Duolingo that could be called a "quiz.")

I finished lesson one and the questions on it. Now there are three squares that say Lesson One, Lesson Two and Lesson Three. The Lesson One box says "redo" and the Lesson two box says ""Begin", but when I click begin it takes me right to the lesson two quiz, without allowing me to view the lesson.

Go ahead and do lesson 2. There's no pre-quiz instruction. Every unit has tips and notes, but the lessons teach you along the way with the quiz. When you come across a word you don't know, hover over it (maybe click) and you will see the definition. The hover definitions aren't necessarily 100% exactly what you're looking for--sometimes you'll see a word with multiple meanings and not all of them will be appropriate for your context.

Verbs will have an additional bit in the hover box. It says something like "see conjugation." If you click on that, you'll get a box of that verb and all the ways it can be conjugated for that tense.

Don't be afraid to get things wrong! That's how you'll learn. And definitely try reading the sentence discussions. After you hit "submit" and get feedback, you'll see a "discuss this sentence" button. Clicking that won't interrupt your lesson, but any other links you click inside that discussion will force you to exit the lesson. So read away, and make attempts! What's that Miz Frizzle says? Make mistakes! Get messy!
