So for all of you who have finished the Esperanto tree already, I was just wondering what the final count came out to? It looks like a pretty short tree so I was wondering if maybe the word count was low.

How many words are in the Esperanto Tree?

1935 =) But the course will be expanded by another whole checkpoint in the future. They simply decided to cut the course and release it earlier so that people can start learning Esperanto even faster; the Hungarian team will do the same.

Why there is no "Words" section for Esperanto? Is there any possibility to get them? I'd love to copy and add new words to anki!

Beta courses do not have an "official" words tab. However, I found a way (originally for Dutch) to get the words tab for any course:

  • Switch to a (non-beta) course with a words tab (French, German, etc.)
  • Open a new browser tab, go on duolingo and switch to a course without words tab (e.g. Esperanto)
  • Go back to the first browser tab and click on the words tab. You should now see the word list of the course chosen in step 2.

I just get a 404 error when I attempt this.

I repeated it with Chrome and Firefox and it worked in both cases. Maybe you did not exactly follow the steps. E.g. if you already go to the words tab in step 1 and refresh in step 3, you will get a 404.

I followed your instructions, but I have only 178 words that I've seen in the lessons. Thanks for the trick!

Good point. Probably the number refers to the course you chose in step 1. In my case it was German and I had already tested it out.

Edit: My guess was correct, I tested it using different courses.

Woah, awesome! I got it to work for Danish and I'm trying Esperanto now. Thank you so much!

It is a little buggy though (I went to German then to Danish) http://imgur.com/xz0osdF

Wait, it's 2017 and Esperanto still doesn't have the "words" tab, fluency percentage, bonus skills, and more checkpoints. So the developing progress seems slow. Besides, audio input is lesser compared to the French course such as in "tap the pairs." The pictures aren't minimalist either (i.e. French and Spanish courses).

I haven't finished yet so I don't know what the final word count is, but I do know that they released it early and they are planing on adding more to it.

Having finished the tree, including the non-tree "esperanto culture" and "flirting', I am getting 3150 total words.

The actual number of unique words is probably a third of that. The list includes all forms of the word - so, many nouns and adjectives will have both singular, plural, and accusative form (and sometimes both plural and accusative). Verbs often have past, present, future and infinitive as separate entries. Etc.

Where do you get the "Esperanto culture" and "flirting"? I don't seem to have it. Are you using Android, desktop, or iOS? I'm using iOS, which I think is suckish compared to Android.

I have it on desktop by going to the store and purchasing it. It cost 30 lingots each. I spent all my lingots purchasing flirting today.

Holy crap! Really? I'm on iOS. Fudge. If i purchase it on desktop, can I get it on my Android at least? The Android version shows the "bonus skill" tab but doesn't sell any at the Lingot store. So sad.

Oh well, the esperanto culture disapppeared today from my tree (it appears but I can't do it). I rushed to do the flirting since it was the second thing to disappear after I bought it but before I used it and it worked on Android.

Yeah, I tried, but it doesn't do anything. There's a tab for bonus skills, but I can't do anything with it.
