I have finished my German tree!
After a year and a half and numerous breaks I have finally done it, I've finished my German skill tree. It's extremely satisfying to see the lovely German owl at the bottom of the tree; I would like to thank all the staff and the contributors who made the tree and have made it possible for me to learn this amazing language! Now, I would like to share some of the websites that have also helped me: https://www.youtube.com/user/magauchsein https://www.youtube.com/user/MeisterLehnsherr http://radiolingua.com/coffeebreakgerman/ http://www.listeningpractice.org/ https://www.lingq.com/ https://www.memrise.com/ Finally, good luck to all the people who are on their way to finishing the tree!
Congratulations! I began mine yesterday and am looking forward to finishing it. It seems kinda impossible right now hahaha But it will get better I hope!
Hahaha, don't worry you'll have a lot of fun throughout, I can also guarentee that you'll get better, good luck on your tree! :)
Rock on. I hope to join you (one day lol)!!! This is an awesome accomplishment and look at the other languages there. Any plans for German now that the tree is finished? Enjoy this time.
Thank you! I hope to speak to a lot more natives and hopefully next year be able to visit Berlin again, it's such a beautiful city full of friendly people :)
Aha, so you've cheated:-) You've spoken, and been to Germany before LOL tee hee
Hahaha in fairness, when I went to Berlin I only spoke German to about 3 or 4 people, I was terrified of making any mistakes!
Wow, congratulations! I'm really looking forward to being able to speak German well. It's such a great language. (Even if I've practically only just started ahah) And you are well on your way to finishing Spanish, too, it seems. That takes some real dedication.
Thank you, German is a great language, and you'll get there soon; good luck with your trees!
Hey congrats! thanks so much for posting those youtube links, they're awesome! :D
Congrats! i want it too. but my Brother said that German language is easier than Math -.- so i should learn Math first
Congratulations! I would like to ask how you feel about the language now that you've learned the program here on Duolingo. How confident (truly) do you feel about speaking the language? Would you say you have the vocabulary memorized more than being able to speak it? Have the other sites helped supplement Duolingo more?
I am about halfway through my tree and feel like I'm learning a lot just not sure if it is translating to being able to actually speak it well. I supplement with Deutsche Welle podcasts and Babbel which teaches a little differently.
Thanks for any feedback on these questions that you can give. I'm interested in your perspective.
Thanks, I would say that I am quite confident about speaking it and I think that this really depends on the person, I for one try to practice speaking as much as I possibly can, for example do simple things like once a sentence appears immitate the German voice. In terms of vocabulary, each time a new word appears I try to familiarise my self with it, so in turn this helps with the speaking aspect. Other sites like memrise are great for learning vocabulary, and the other links are mainly for helping with my listening; you're definitely on the right track though by listening to Deutsche Welle podcasts. Finally I would like to wish you good luck with the rest of your German tree.
Congrats on your finishing your tree! Hey I was wondering if by the end you can "speak" german "fluently" because it almost seems impossible for me right now.
Thanks! If by fluently you mean able to speak it without thinking, then no. However as most things, it will come with practice and lots of it!
Thank you so much for sharing these links, they are very useful for beginners!
