"An elephant is an animal."
Translation:Слон - це тварина.
The dash is a stand in for the missing copula (to be verb). Strictly speaking, it is necessary punctuation, but Duolingo doesn't count it and it isn't spoken.
The program accepts for "Слон - це тваріна" and "Слон - це тварина". Are both correct? Is it dialect-dependent?
Thanks. Why does Duolingo accept it then? Is it a result of accepting romanized translations? If so, this has got to end... lots of incorrect answers are certainly being accepted.
