What's the difference between "Cuál" and "Qué"?

When do we use "Cuál" vs "Qué"?

I know there's no other option when saying "¿Qué pasa?" but would it be incorrect to say, for example "¿Qué es tu dirección?" as opposed to "¿Cuál es tu dirección?"

It boils down to "what" (qué) vs "which" (cuál), though of course it's not quite that simple. Here's a good explanation. Here's a nice practice page. I'm sure others will have more resources.

¿Que es tu dirección? it's no correct, the correct sentence is "Cuál es tu dirección?"

What is like Que and which is like Cual.

¿Que pasa? is similar to "What happen?"

Please note that there is a slight difference of usage in Spain vs Latin America. Here I am quoting from Spanish Salamanca A2 course notes (2nd edition) on MiriadaX platform:

Ten en cuenta que en España cuál/cuáles no puede ir seguido de un nombre. En ese caso, debes utilizar siempre qué:

Me gusta mucho esa ciudad.

Spain: ¿Qué ciudad?

Latin America (option): ¿Cuál ciudad?
