I did a full lesson and it didn't count!

I just did the colours skill in Spanish. Duolingo turned its circle, and turned... and didn't count it! Before it also happened in German - both colours and family. :(

I frequently have this problem too and haven't found a solution that works. Other people have stated that being behind a proxy can be a problem as can having "Web Acceleration" enabled in your router / modem. Ad-blocking software has also been suggested as being a possible culprit.

You could try a different browser; I was using IE 8 on XP Pro and that just would not work. I'm using Chrome now and that worked perhaps 66% of the time for a few weeks though it's got a lot worse over the last week or two for me. After completing a lesson Duolingo used to sit for 2 minutes before spitting me out back to the Skill Tree page; now it only waits 30 seconds. I'm seriously considering abandoning DuoLingo at this point. My last 4 repeated lessons have all been ignored and that's over 3 hours' work.

In my opinion the DuoLingo team need to have a sticky post for this problem with a proper list of possible solutions to attempt. I feel we're being ignored. This is a big problem for a lot of users.

I like this app but if I have to do the same lesson I've already passed like twenty times I'm going to scream. And delete thi app. Please please fix this issue. Nothing is counting and I have passed shortcuts, but it still gives me the first lesson over and over. Grrrrr

Thank you for this discussion. I thought I was going crazy. I would do a lesson and come back the next day and start over again. I have notified duolingo multiple times about the problem with no response. So I also have gone to another program: spanishhour.com. I use chrome on a mac with os10.6. I really need to get to past tense and can't with this problem.

Hi All, I think I have found a solution. Although I didn't like it in the past, I decided to try using Firefox. It recommended installing the latest version then quite a few plugins but I did so as I did want to continue using Duolingo. It took a while (perhaps an hour) to install everything but eventually it was ready.

I logged into Duolingo and it (Firefox) stated that it needed to install the Flash Player plugin. I let it install then tried a new lesson and it worked; the lesson completion was acknowledged immediately. I tried another lesson tonight after a break of a week and it worked perfectly again.

I think that Flash may be the culprit here in some way. My main (ie non-plugin) Flash Player was up to date but IE8 would still not work and neither did Chrome. So, try Firefox and see how you get on. It may be a bit of a nag when it comes to updates but it's worth it if we can keep using Duolingo.

Best of luck to you, Geoffrey

Hi Polabb, you've probably already done so but in case not, it may be worth checking to see if your FF flash player plugin is the latest version. It may even be worth looking to see if a later version of FF is available.

Hope you can get it working, Geoffrey

Still not working on firefox. Duolingo has not responded. Not very good tech support here. Will try other sites.

Thank you pict689. I am using chrome. I am not crazy about firefox, but if need be....Duolingo has ignored all of my emails. Not too impressed with them.

Right now I am using bussu ( bussu.com ) and I have learned more German there in a two weeks than on Duo in two months. And it works faster, too.

Thanks for the tip, I will check bussu out. Hope their support team is more responsive than Duolingo's is.
