The course has over 22,000 learners after two weeks! Like last week, I'm tying this number to a municipality in Norway.

Grimstad is a town and a municipality with a population of around 22,000. The town lies on the southern coastline, in the county of Aust-Agder. Its ties to the sea is certainly reflected in the coat of arms:

Grimstad's "skyline" is full of white painted wood houses and a marina full of boats of various sizes.

The town has been the home and/or summer residence of several famous writers, including Henrik Ibsen, Roald Dahl and Knut Hamsun. This is a picture of Hamsun's house until his death in 1952. Even though his literary work is still celebrated, he is a very controversial figure because of his support for Hitler throughout WWII.

It's no wonder these authors liked to spend time in Grimstad, as no other town in Norway has more sunny days each year!

It's my pleasure! Jeg er spent på om kommunesammenslåing vil ha noen påvirkning på denne serien i framtida :)

I'm loving these posts - makes me want to visit Norway even more (and also makes me realise how little I know about Norway).

Can we have some Northern Lights pictures too please. Thanks!! A beautiful town.

June 5, 2015

We can hope that we'll get to a municipality in Northern Norway soon, that's where the northern lights are best :)

What is "moromme"? Some people here are not yet fluent in Norwegian (me included, far from it actually...)

Right, it was supposed to say "morsomme"! Thanks, fixed it. Translation: These are fun to read:) It will be fun to see what the next municipality will be!
