Learing/teaching the genitive
Hi all I think it would be wise to divide the genetive module into at least two sub-modules. I one case, the "true genetive" there could be structures such as "Der Hund des Manns" 'the man's dog', and in the other, structures with relative pronouns such as "Der Mann deren Hund..." 'the man whose dog...'. Two reasons I think this would be wise are 1. the syntax of the fist is much more simple than the second, which demands verb final in the realtive clause and 2. the genetive determiners agree with the noun following it (here Hund), while the relative pronoun agrees with the subjet of the matix clause (here Mann). It can get confusing to learn both at the same time.
