So far this is the most important phase that we have learned. And only furthers my theory that this is an Oktoberfest themed language course.
I thought that Freundin was just the feminine of friend? Not specifically a romantic interest. Therefore in English this could be "Does your friend have a sister?", or "Does your girlfriend have a sister?", OR "Does your girl friend have a sister?". Can anyone tell me why the third option was incorrect?
Freundin alone means either. Often there are hints earlier in the sentence: eine Freundin, a friend (who's female); meine Freundin, my (girl) friend.
Sometimes there's not really hints though, and then you just have to know -_-.
What about deine Freundin? Does that usually mean girlfriend? Or just meine Freundin? That is, can someone else be talking to you about "your friend (who is a girl)"? Assume they don't know the relationship. For example, would it be fine for a cashier to say "deine Freundin" about a lady you're shopping with (perhaps she is your sister in this example), or would that sound like an assumption that you are dating?
I made that same mistake. I guess technically it isn't wrong, but it's just a matter of semantics, but I believe Freundin is used as both a friend who happens to be female, as well as a girlfriend/romantic interest.
This is actually wrong. Freundin means girlfriend. "eine Freundin (von mir)" would mean a female friend
You are right. The other day we were having discussions as to how the construction of a language changes the way you share information! :)
I had the same problem: "does your lady friend has a sister?" why is it false? I'll give you Lingots.
I doubt if "lady friend" is in duolingo's database, or any other database for that matter! Also you need "have" and not "has".

I think they may be a bug. I put 'Does your friend have a sister?' initially and it said it was incorrect (namely the 'does' part of the sentence).
I wrote the same and it was right, I think there was a bug, but not anymore :)
It'd be great if they had one that translated to,"I think you're sister is pretty".
