Jeg fikk feil når jeg skrev dattera i stedet for datteren. Jeg mener å ha sett dattera før. Er det ikke riktig?

It's correct, and also accepted on our end as far as I can see. Do you remember the complete sentence you submitted?

In the future, it would be very helpful if you could send an error report in cases like this. :)

"dattera" er riktig. Det er feminin bøying, "datteren" er maskulin. Begge skal kunne brukes.

I wonder why kusine can be translated as cousin but not as niece?

Cousins are the children of your aunts and uncles, while your nieces are the female offspring of your own siblings.

so the daughter of an uncle, meaning that the uncle bore in question bore a daughter, but the wording of the relationship between the two implies that the daughter was born out of incest between the daughters mother and her brother, or the daughters mother and the brother of a man who she is in a stable relationship with.

or the uncle is an uncle to someone else in which case go away
