So I said "Kiam vi diris ke mi faru tion, mi helpis vin". Would that be okay?

I would say that that is better Esperanto grammar than the sentence given. Mi dirus, ke tio estas pli bona gramatiko ol la frazo donita.

"kiam vi diris AL MI ke mi faru tion, mi helpis vin" should be accepted I think

Is it correct to start the second part of the sentence with "tiam"? Like so: "Kiam ..., tiam mi helpis vin."

Shouldn't "Kiam vi diris min fari tion, mi helpis vin." Also be correct? Everything else I've seen on duolingo indicates that you can leave out "al" if you make the recipient accusative.
