Could someone give me an example of the difference(s) between "apud" and "krom"? I thought in English that "krom" is "beside" and "apud" is "next to". Anything else?

"krom" is "besides" as in "except", not "beside" as in "next to".

So in Latin, apud means "in the house of" or more loosely, "among". In the original Esperanto of Zamenhof, is the translation closer to the Latin translation, or this one?
