To make learning Norwegian more fun I have been translating lyrics to some of my favorite songs. Some of them are in Nynorsk, and I have noticed that they do not always abide by the V2 rule.

Example:

Eg songane søkte

Eg songane sende

Is this a typical Nynorsk thing? Or is it just poetic Norwegian? Maybe someone here can shed some light on it.

No. That's just artistic and poetic word placement, with roots in Old Norse perhaps. Norwegian altogether uses the SVO order, and VSO when interrogating.
