Yes. The two words 'homo' and 'popolo' seem to be used interechangeably, yet the plural of person (homo) is persons (homoj) and the collective noun 'people' (sing.) (popolo) seems to have a plural. I'm not saying Esperanto has to have direct equivalents to English (all languages have their own peculiarities) but I would have more confidence in Esperanto if I could see consistency and sublty; perhaps I just need to spend longer with it.
