Where is du in this case? It is always interpreted as "some" milk. You can never say boire le lait.


"Its/Son" is the determiner. You don't need to add an article.

  • The cat drinks (some) milk = Le chat boit du lait
  • The cat drinks the milk = Le chat boit le lait.
