4 hearts vs 3 hearts?
Why do some people have 4 hearts per lesson while others only have 3? I saw a picture post on Tumblr that showed someone having 4 hearts instead of the usual two, and I have read a few web posts referring to having 4 hearts to complete a lesson. I'm just rather confused.
As far as I know you get four hearts in the Basic skills - probably to avoid demotivating new DuoLingo users - and three hearts in all the other lessons. I've never seen a lesson where you only get two hearts at the beginning though.
There used to be lessons with two hearts when practicing individual words, in cases that the word appeared in a particular number of different types, you could get a lesson with only 5-6 questions and two hearts. I haven't seen something like that for a long time though. As for the 3 vs 4 hearts, it is what stefott says, 4 hearts are only on early lessons for beginners.
