This is the big special day, December 15, Zamenhoftago, the anniversary of Zamenhof's birth. It's usual to attend a party and/or buy a book:

July 26 is Esperanto day, the anniversary of the introduction of the Unua Libro. I don't know whether people usually attend a party, but why not?:

Esperanto Day is also Esperanto Book Day. The UEA marks it by giving really good discounts from their bookstore.
I think the best way to celebrate Esperanto day is by buying or reading an Esperanto book.
Some of us lucky people will be celebrating Esperanto Day in Lille. We could make a toast to the Unua Libro.
Amusingly, I recently learned, you can read the Unua Libro in English in its entirety here: http://www.genekeyes.com/Dr_Esperanto.html

Hmm, we should plan something big :D! Not very good at coming up with ideas, but I'm sure you and the other moderators can come up with a good one!
