Yes, and it's not in error. You'll see it fits a pattern common to several similar words too.
"Those are..." would not work? There was another sentence (which I dont remember) where "det er" translated to "those are".
Wouldn't that be: De er...?
There're=there are, and was not accepted...
"There're" is not proper English, but a colloquialism.
