I would rather translate this as "Take your hands off!" )))
Why is "Hands off!" incorect? I find it unlikely someone would exlaim just "Hands!"
"Hands off" is accepted now (07.07.2019)
Em, in which situations can you use this phrase? When you're a policeman and you're chasing a robber?
As alex_tv80 said it's really something like "Take your hands off!" :) When you don't want someone to touch something
Or perhaps when you're checking your kid's hands for dirt.
What would a Police Officer say?
So, I translated this as "arms" and it was accepted. Why, if it is an idiom for "take your hands off?" Is there also an idiomatic understanding of this that uses "arms"? If so, could someone please explain it here?
Its most likely duolingo is programmed to accept arms as a translation for руки in all cases. I could be wrong that's just by guess
